Noiramore Academy: A Gothic Mystery Waiting to Be Uncovered
The mystery adventure game genre is about to welcome a gothic, stylized new title.
Noiramore Academy, developed by Ink Rose Inc and Studio SyndiCat. The project promises a rich, story-driven experience brimming with puzzles, eccentric characters, and an eerie academy shrouded in secrets.
It was launched on Kickstarter in October of 2024, and the project has exceeded expectations, securing over $50k in pledges which is well beyond the initial goal of $40K. This speaks volumes about the game’s appeal, drawing in players who crave a blend of immersive storytelling, engaging puzzles, and a distinct aesthetic inspired by noir films, the works of Tim Burton, and other classic adventure games.
The game is set in the cold, black-and-white fantasy world of Noivesse, and introduces players to the Psyquine, a unicorn horned race with natural telepathic and telekinetic abilities known as Resonetics. Noivesse is a world of stark contrasts, where monsters and mysteries coexist alongside benevolent dragons and breathtaking crystal caverns.
Players step into the role of Judith Hovern, a cunning and sharp-witted student with a talent for solving mysteries. When she becomes the sole witness to the mysterious abduction of a new teacher, she must navigate the labyrinthine halls of the Academy, solving puzzles and interrogating suspects to uncover the truth, while armed only with her intelligence, curiosity, and unique abilities.
Noiramore Academy has been compared to titles like Nancy Drew, Grim Fandango, Sam & Max, and Telltale’s The Walking Dead. The game offers a third-person exploration experience, in which players will interact with the academy’s eerie surroundings, inspect objects, and uncover hidden clues scattered throughout the school.
